lipstick pretty face

Just had a really lengthy msn convo with Dustin. He's one of the rare people I have real in depth conversations with on msn, and much better so than in real life, maybe because he can always find the right words to put across. It really got me thinking, why do we care so much about how people view us? So many times I see someone's tweets on twitter or status update on facebook, and I think to myself how I don't give a flying fuck (pardon the vulgar expression, for alliteration purposes only). So tempted to just delete about half of my facebook friends, or even better, delete my whole account. One day I'll work up that courage to move on with life in the real world. Goodnight for now!

no i'm not dead.

Oh how sad and neglected this space now is. I am now 21, and actually going to work on a daily basis, and not wasting my days away going out for shopping or teas or luncheons or dinners. Blogging is really exhausting work! Especially when you have better things to do like sleep. I shall do some updates this weekend, but really who is reading anyway -.- I miss talking to myself I suppose, or letting my fingers deftly run across the keyboard in an uncontrollable rambling style. Some narcissistic photos from photobooth to entertain you. See how long my hair has grown!!! Shall resist though I'm infinitely tempted to snip a few inches off.

DISCLAIMER: thats supposed to uhm... be a national day temp tattoo. not a lovebite. (jez sayin)
Polaroid taken at my SORTA BUT NOT REALLY birthday party with A5. You guys make me so happy

a moment

Today I came across a quote on tumblr that said: "Enjoy the little things, for when you look back on your life you will realise they were the big things" (or something along those lines anyhow), and it made me think of a moment I had yesterday. I was standing at the pick up point at Takashimaya waiting for my sister to come pick me up, reading my twitter feed and I just casually glanced up to see if my sister's car had come in yet. Right at that second I met the very greyish blue eyes of a cute caucasian just as he was looking away from me, whom I'm assuming was a tourist. He wasn't dashingly handsome but had very nice features that made him look like your good looking boy next door, the kind who would fit right in to a Ralph Lauren advertorial. And just as I looked up his head was turning away from me, and in that moment where time seemed to slow down, he did a double take, like in the movies, and looked back at me. I don't know why, maybe there was something on my face! But that 'moment', as I call it, made my heart flip on the spot. It made me feel pretty for once, and I was dressed so sloppily in my old faded american apparel tshirt and my denim shorts, and before I knew it that 'moment' has filled me with some insane sort of happyness. That up til now has not faded. And I know for sure this will be one of those little things that I'll remember as a big thing, even though it might not have happened for the reasons I hope it did.

green fields and blue skies

I've had a pretty good time since I left Sydney, enjoyed a short stint in Singapore, which is always nice, and now I'm in the English countryside. Tomorrow I leave for London, and as excited as I am to be in that great megalopolis, I'm going to miss the country, with its stillness, the blue skies, the stormclouds that move across the sky in a heartbeat, the way the air is extra crisp after a sudden downpour, the flowers that blossom so fiercely in the sunshine, especially my favourite hydrangeas just popping up everywhere, the rush of excitement at discovering cherries in a tree, and the sillyness at never knowing that cherries grew in trees(!), the random rabbits bolting into shadow-- things that cities never have. I'll miss the old english folk, who always have a smile to spare, and the blue eyed kids curiously enchanted by an asian alien (such as myself), the many dogs who obediently trot after their owners, occasionally eager for a pat. I'll miss the little towns, perched on cliffs overlooking the sea, the quaint hotels with their tea rooms and cream teas, old sea walls with holes for their canons, circa 1845, and winding roads with trees bending over to meet right in the middle. Till next time,

au revoir sydney

Tonight is my last night in Sydney. After two whole years of studying here I'm kinda sad to leave. I'm always happy to go home, but tonight I know I won't be back in Sydney for the next 8 months or so, and I know I'm going to miss it terribly. I've settled pretty well here, its not much but I like my life here. Today I had lunch for Natania, went shopping in Paddington, went to the city, walked through Hyde Park, had dinner in Newtown with Kalai and her friends at a Cafe with a live band, and bought a gelato at the best gelato place in the whole city. I will miss you, my Sydney.

the sparks that fly are lighting up the sky

Taking a break from studying for my very last paper, and I'm distracted by all the things I am gonna do when I finally finish this semester and leave Sydney. I'm going to

read as many books as I can
watch more movies and especially foreign films
play with my dogs every day
swim every week in my own under-used pool
clean out my room (especially this!!!)
take photos with all my poor neglected film cameras
actually send the film in for developing
wake up just in time for brunch and not a second earlier or later
re-read the Sandman and maybe Lucifer if I have time
spend less time on the internet
explore Singapore more, Heartlands here I come!

Just another 4 days to freedom!

tangerine trees and marmalade skies

I'm so glad I went to Fiji, and I'm so grateful that my parents let me make the trip (thanks mom and dad you da bomb!) The people are beyond friendly and even though their lifestyles are all so simple they seem genuinely happy. This world is beautiful and we have to keep it that way.

Things I did this trip which I've never done before:
1. Swam under a waterfall
2. Swam in a real stone based river, which had river eels in it!!
3. Ate a banana
(okay not never, but not in about 5 or 10 years)
4. Seen the most amazing sunset ever

These were taken when it was low tide!! Water is unbelievably clear.
My camera died after this (insert sad-but-serves-me-right-for-not-bringing-my-charger-face here) so I stole some photos from Deborah and Yvette, who use the "same same but different" camera (Lumix & Leica respectively).

Deb's photos

I hate bananas, but its rude to not eat something since they offered it to me. The last time I ate a banana whole was probably when I was 10 or something.
♡♡♡♡
bula fiji, you were good to me
